In the year 2008, Malik Kadeem Hardison is sitting in a pub, despondent after losing both his job and his wife. Is this a genuine plot, though, or is Swagger being elaborately set up And anyway, has Swagger enough patriotism left in him to be coaxed into de-retiring for the sake of a country that's been trying to off him

Having established an ancient temple on the planet Earth, the alien Mondoshawan race return in 1914 with four mystic stones, representing the elements, and remove a casket containing the Fifth Element, known as the Supreme Being. In the 23rd century an alien sphere of pure evil threatens the Earth, and priest Cornelius Ian Holm prophesies that the Fifth Element is required to defeat it. When an approaching Mondoshowan ship is destroyed, its remnants form into a female humanoid, Leeloo Jovovich, who is aided by taxi driver Korben Dallas Willis. Cornelius realizes that Leeloo is the Fifth Element, and he and Korben set out to reunite her with the other four elements to defeat the approaching great evil.

He enlists the help of his friend Cledus Snow Jerry Reed and along the way Bandit picks up runaway bride Carrie Sally Field, who turns out to be engaged to Texas Sheriff Buford Justice Jackie Gleason's son Junior Mike Henry. When Sheriff Justice finds out where Carrie is, he resolves to chase the Bandit all the way to Georgia if he has to.

With forty passengers on board, technical problems force the spaceship Hunter-Gratzner to crash land on a distant planet.
